There’s a new kid on the (pre-owned watch) block and it’s not one to be trifled with. WatchBox, a leading e-commerce platform for the buying, selling and trading marketplace of luxury pre-owned watches, has launched in Singapore following tremendous success in Hong Kong.
Here’s what takes WatchBox notches ahead of a regular timepiece marketplace. Its digital platform is sophisticated, thanks to the use of advanced technology via its mobile app where you can shop from its entire global inventory. Here, augmented reality is its strongest feature, and allows users to virtually try on any of its watches. Its inventory currently has over 150 pieces in the Singapore lounge, and a global inventory of around 3,000 worth over $80 million. It is a treasure trove of collector’s timepieces ranging from the classic, limited edition, and discontinued. WatchBox owns each of its watches, all of which have been thoroughly evaluated and authenticated, and restored to mint condition before they’re put up for sale.
WatchBox has grown from strength to strength since its launch. Its success is attributed to its dream team of three founders: Danny Govberg of Govberg Jewelers, Sincere Watch’s former owner Tay Liam Wee and investor-entrepreneur and Global CEO Justin Reis. Govberg and Tay bring a wealth of experience to the business, having catapulted their family legacies into the future.
“Leading auction houses have offered one avenue for consumers looking to sell pieces from personal collections – or simply provide the means to refresh one’s collection – but what is missing is a vehicle to realise immediate value. And this is where WatchBox comes in,” says Tay. Naturally, such an investment may require an up-close viewing. Its private showroom is now accessible at co-working space The Great Room located in Ngee Ann City.
