The citywide lockdown situation caused by the spread of the Coronavirus has made staying at home the best defence. But you still have to eat, right? And since you want to stay healthy too, why not get farm fresh groceries sent direct to your door? That way you’ll boost your immune system and give a boost to local Thai farmers at the same time. Several locally based companies are already offering this service, each with their own unique spin.
During this Covid-19 closure period Bo.lan, Bangkok’s award-winning Michelin-starred Thai food restaurant, has branched out in multiple directions. They offer home delivery of delicious prepared meals, but they can also deliver to your door grocery boxes filled with fresh, organic, ready-to-cook fruits and vegetables. All the produce is organic and produced by the farmers that Bo.Lan has been working with for a long time. Most are located in nearby provinces such as Lopburi, Uthaithani and Pathumthani, although some items can be from further afield, like shrimp paste from Krabi or special veggies from Chiang Mai.
Order either the Bo.lan Community-Sourced Agriculture (CSA) Grocer Box (THB 800), or the Bo.lan Grocer Essentials Box (THB 1,600), both of which are ideal for aspiring gourmets who like a few surprises, and anyone who just wants to eat healthy while supporting local Thai producers. Assembled each day based on what is received from the farmers, an average box includes fruits and vegetables, fresh herbs, sauces, and dressings, as well as three suggested recipes to try – but feel free to experiment and cook with abandon using your own imagination and expertise. Special dietary requirement boxes can be arranged as well, while ethically and sustainably sourced proteins and seafood can also be added (and charged accordingly). Delivery includes anywhere in Bangkok with a fee base on the distance from Bo.lan.

VIVIN Grocery Delivery
When it comes to Thai artisanal cheeses and exceptional charcuteries – from foie gras terrine, to cold cuts and duck magret – the name Vivin Maison is one that Bangkok’s most fervent foodies are intimately familiar with. In late December they opened Vivin Grocery, a stand-alone specialty food shop on Ekkamai, but during these trying times the team has expanded operations to now include Vivin Grocery Delivery, which can ship to your doorstep all of the above, as well as Thai bean-to-bar chocolate, beverages, spices, salts, honey, jams, chutneys, granolas and, most importantly, certified organic fruits and vegetables and top quality local meats.
For those wanting just some cheese and charcuterie luxury nibbles, Vivin’s Classic Small Apero Box (THB 360) is good for one person, while the Classic Large Apero Box (THB 890) can satisfy up to three or four. Feed For Farm
Many Thai farmers are in trouble these days because they cannot sell or distribute their products, neither to domestic nor export markets. In order to help them out, Feed For Farm is a free Facebook group set up for farmers to advertise what they have, allowing you to order (in bulk or otherwise) whatever it is that might be fresh and available. It’s important to get these items to hungry mouths before some of the fruits over-ripen and go to waste.
Current highlights available include: cashew nuts from Nakorn Srithammarat (THB 600/kg); white Malaka grapes from farms in Ratchadamneon, Ratchaburi, and Banpaow Samutsakhon (THB 70/kg); honey from Krabi (THB 370/500ml; THB 530/750ml); and sweet cantaloupe from Amnajcharoen (starting at THB 130/3kg). Some prices include delivery, depending on the farm.
